Style and Colour: A blend of barrel-aged beers with cherries.

Taste: With hints of fruit and a complex finish, it is without doubt one of the best Sour Ales ever made.

Alcohol: 5.6 % ABV

Drinking Temperature: 4 - 6° C

Fermentation: Mixed fermentation. A mixture of beers that have matured for up to two years in oak casks, macerated with sour cherries. Some of the oak barrels are over 150 years old!

The Brewery: The Brasserie Rodenbach is located in Roeselare, South of Bruges, in Belgium.  It was established in 1820 by four brothers. Owned by the Palm Jan Toyes brewery since 1998, they have worked to perpetuate this unique style of Belgian beer.

OriginIt was Eugène Robenbach, one of their descendants, who brought the secrets of ageing in oak barrels from England. RODENBACH Alexander was first brewed in 1986 on the occasion of the 200th birthday of Alexander Rodenbach, co-founder of the RODENBACH brewing tradition.

Food: Excellent with foie gras or pastries.

World Beer Awards: Gold Medal in 2022
