Style and Colour: Belgian brown abbey beer

Taste: Powerful and spicy aromas. Caramelised smell of coffee and rum. Slight hint of hops. The aftertaste is intense and persistent.

The Brewery: The Abbey of Aulne was founded in 657 by Landelin, an Irish monk, in the Peace Valley, on the banks of the Sambre between Thuin and Gozée, in Wallonia. It was the first abbey under the rule of Saint-Benoît, which became a definitive Cistercian order in the 12th century.

Origin: The alders abounding in this rural setting gave its name to Aulne Abbey (Alders'abbey).

Food: Ideal with all types of seafood.
