Style and Colour: Champagne style Belgian brut beer.

Taste: Strong but silky-smooth, with a powerful, dry aftertaste, very aromatic, peach and rose, apricot, vanilla, orange and lemon rind.

Alcohol: 11 % ABV

Drinking Temperature: 4 - 6 °C
The glass should first be chilled by swirling an ice cube around in it. This brings out the best in all the Malheur characteristics.

Fermentation: Refermented up to three times in the bottle. Made "a-la-methode-originale-champenoise". That means that as with Champagne, the fermented beer has to go through the typical process of remuage (ripening) and "degorgement" (yeast removal). The yeast used is a similar to champagne yeast, which is what gives the beer the mouth feel, carbonation, and color of a "champagne"

The Brewery: De Landtsheer brewery is in Buggenhout in Flanders in Belgium. Founded in the 18th century by Balthazar De Landtsheer.

Origin: The name “Malheur” was not chosen “by accident”. Its playful double meaning “Malheur” conjured up pleasant connotations and in brief is a name that stuck in people’s minds. It was the dream of the existing owner Manu De Landtsheer to brew a premium beer "a-la-methode-originale-champenoise".

Food: Especially appreciated as an aperitif, dessert or digestive.
