Beer detoxification

At the beginning of January, you may be looking for diets and advice to eliminate all the excesses of New Year's Eve, to get back in shape and adopt a good nutritional balance, and especially to help you resume your activities without too much stress.

Be aware that beer drunk in moderation can help you regain your balance.

At the beginning of January, after the holidays and its excesses, beer can help us in 6 areas:

1) Beer can help us lose weight.

According to a study published in the scientific journal "Angewandte Chemie" in 2012, beer and its acidic agents contribute to weight loss (if consumed in moderation). The ethanol contained in beer promotes blood flow and reduces bad cholesterol, reducing the risk of heart attacks and cardiovascular disease.

Beer is one of the lowest calorie alcoholic beverages (less than half of wine). On average, beer contains 2 to 3 times less alcohol than wine.

2) Beer provides you with vitamins and minerals

Brewer's yeast contains vitamins B6, B9 and B12, which are essential for the body's rebalancing.

Beer is also a source of a heap of minerals including potassium, phosphorus and magnesium that promote the metabolism of carbohydrates (sugars) ingested in too large quantities during New Year's Eve meals.

3) Beer is a source of fibre

Fibre is essential to ensure good intestinal transit and avoid all the inconveniences caused by excess New Year's Eve, such as constipation or diarrhea.

4) Beer is an anti-stress and helps you sleep well

Beer has sedative, calming, anti-depressant properties and is an excellent remedy against insomnia because it contains nicotinic acid and lactoflavin known to promote sleep. Hops are sometimes used in some insomnia medications. Instead, choose natural craft beers to sleep well and recover from the December sleep deprivation.

5) Beer is excellent for the kidneys

According to a study published by the American Journal of Epidemiology in 1999, beer reduces the risk of developing kidney stones by 40%.

Beer is a diuretic that stimulates kidney function (in good health) and facilitates the elimination of toxins, waste and excess water retained in the body. Of course, beer should be consumed in moderation (maximum 1 to 2 25cl glasses per day).

6) Beer is a remedy for colds

In case of a cold, heat some beer with honey. Warm barley improves blood circulation, respiration and strengthens the immune system.

So choose your light and low alcohol beer in this month of January and get back in shape!

Beer My Guest has selected 4 low alcohol and light beers to help you feel better:

La Colomba, white Corsican beer, with maquis herbs

La Vermontoise, a blond beer made with spelt

- Rodenbach, red beer, slightly sweet and sour

Burgundy of Flanders, a dark beer with a very light and refreshing mixed fermentation
